Before getting into this week’s post, I would like to say “Happy Thanksgiving!” and officially thank everyone who’s reading this post. When I started this blog I told myself that it didn’t matter if one person was reading my blog or if 10 people were reading. I just wanted a creative outlet that would allow me to post about anything and everything I wanted to. As more people started reading, I promised myself that I would just try my best to create quality content and produce work that I could be proud of. But now, to think that there are actually 1,656 of you? It’s surreal to think that there’s actually that many people reading words that I write! I appreciate each and every one of you as you’ve stayed by my side these past 9 months. I would also like to thank every photographer, model, interviewee, and company that I’ve had the honor of working with during this time. Looking back, I’ve had such a great time blogging about my hobbies and interests. The Clothing Statement has definitely come a long, long way and is still in the process of growing everyday. I couldn’t have done it without you all. Thank you!
…
Since it’s Thanksgiving, I decided to make a post dedicated to the things that I’m grateful to have in my life. For the past 20 years, love, light, and laughter have been the most essential substances that keeps me going. Those of you who’ve been reading my posts for a while know that I sign off each post “With love, Hamy Huynh”, but that’s really just the shortened version of “With love, light, and laughter, Hamy Huynh”. This motto is something that I swear by and remind myself of whenever life becomes hard, which, for the past couple of weeks, my life has been more difficult than usual. But with all of the love, light, and laughter that I’m surrounded by, I know better days are waiting ahead.
Love
Although I’ve never been “in love” with anyone, I definitely know what it feels like to give and to receive love. This four-letter word has so much significance that we’re able to thrive and survive off of it. I believe that love comes in many different forms: kinship, friendship, self, and humanity. When there’s an option to love or to hate, I choose to love, even if it’s the harder out of the two. Having a loathe for someone can bring in so much negativity and toxicity into one’s life. Having love for someone on the other hand, can fill your life with such joy and strength. That’s why even on my darkest of days I always remind myself that I’m lucky to be surrounded by so much love from my friends, family, and even myself.
Light
For a girl who’s scared of the dark, having light in my life is crucial. My biggest source of light definitely comes from the people who’ve entered my life and stayed. I find so much warmth as my friends and family continuously illuminate the darkness so that I can see. The ties that I have to other people are so important to me. I’m the type of person who gains energy by being around others, and lately, I’ve realized that I have so many people who give me the energy I need to shine. To those who’ve brought light into my life, thank you for motivating, inspiring, and supporting me through thick and thin.
Laughter
Laughter is something that I really value as it usually indicates having a good time, making memories, and enjoying each others’ company. Memories are stronger when there’s an emotion attached to it, and I find that the best memories I have are usually when I’m laughing. I actually hate my laugh as it sounds super goofy, but I don’t mind having this goofy laugh if it means I have the ability to do so in general. When I’m having a bad day, those who can make me laugh and forget about my burdens are the real MVPs in my life. I’m grateful towards everyone who has ever made me laugh.
That’s it for this post! I also want to give a quick shout out to my cousin, Minh Tu (@minht2 on Instagram), for taking such beautiful photos for this post! This shoot was totally different from anything I’ve ever done before. However, it’s definitely one of my favorites! Make sure to follow her on Instagram for more content that she’s captured.
I hope that you’ve enjoyed reading the things that I’m thankful for. What are you guys thankful for this year? Let me know in the comments!
Your photography is beautiful!
