Influenster is a product discovery community that sends out complimentary products for their members to test out and review. If you’re chosen to be one of the people to test out their products, you’ll receive a package called a VoxBox filled with items such as makeup, skincare, food, and hair products. I’m very thankful that they continue to send me VoxBoxes to test out and enjoy. Thank you to Influenster, GLAMGLOW, and COOLA for making this review possible!
DISCLAIMER: Yes, I did get these items for FREE. But I wasn’t paid to review them nor was I paid to promote these items. The contents of this blog post are 100% honest and is solely my opinion. What works for my skin may or may not work for yours, so please keep that in mind! This review is simply meant for my readers to be exposed to new products and learn about my updated skin and hair routine.
For the past few boxes I’ve received beauty-related products that I’ve incorporated into my regular skin and hair routine. Now that two months have passed since I’ve started using these products, I think it’s time to share with you guys my honest reviews!
GLAMGLOW’s STARPOTION Liquid Charcoal Clarifying Oil is an oil that is supposed to be nourishing and clarifying. This oil contains activated coconut charcoal and white Japanese binchotan charcoal—which helps detoxify skin. STARPOTION also includes turmeric powder which is supposed to help soothe your skin, anti-inflammatory aloe vera, conditioning oleic acid, blemish and oil-controlling salicylic acid and brightening vitamin C. With such a great blend of ingredients, this product has been a great skin-saver for the colder weather that Minnesota has been experiencing lately!
This oil can be used both morning and night, but I personally use it only at night because it is a black oil and I don’t like to appear oily in the morning nor do I want my makeup to melt off. The packaging is awesome because it’s made of glass and includes a dropper applicator which makes it super easy to use and hypoallergenic. I massage about 2-3 drops of the oil onto my face and neck after washing my face with my usual facial cleanser. After this oil, I apply my moisturizer, drink a glass of water, and head straight to bed. When I wake up in the morning, my skin is super soft, clear of acne, and looks radiant– all of which are super important to me!
If you have color-treated hair like me, COOLA’s Scalp & Hair Mist is essential for your hair! This sunscreen hair mist contains plant-based antioxidants like monoi oil and gotu kola extract to help nourish both your scalp and hair. It’s supposed to help lock-in color, diminish dullness, and strengthen environmentally-damaged hair. It smells like ocean salted sage and because I have wavy hair, the mist makes my waves a lot less frizzy and a lot more manageable. After showering I usually apply about 2-3 sprays of this mist onto my hair and then brush it through with a comb to ensure that all of my hair is covered.
The number one thing that I can’t stress enough to everyone is that we all need SPF in our skincare routine! As you get older, the sun becomes even more harmful to your skin. You can have discoloration, sun spots, increased wrinkles, and even skin cancer if you’re not careful. Damage isn’t only found outside, it’s found inside as well! I don’t care if you are inside 24/7, your skin can still be damaged.
COOLA’s Sun Silk Drops not only protects your skin from the sun but also from environmental toxins and digital overexposure. The organic formula protects against broad spectrum UVA/UVB, IR (Infrared) and HEV (High Energy Visible) light. I use this product in the morning. After I wash my face and apply moisturizer, I use 1 droplet of this product and massage it into my face and neck. You could also mix this product into your moisturizer or foundation and it will work the same! Out of all of the products that I was sent, I think this one is my favorite. I love the color of the packaging as well as its lightweight formula and fresh scent. I’ll have to say that my favorite thing about this product is knowing that it has SPF 30 and that it will protect my skin from long-term light damage.
